  • How to File a Human Rights Complaint (new)
    In this video, Human Rights Clinic lawyer Laura Track walks you through what you need to know to file a human rights complaint with the BC Human Rights Tribunal.

  • Family Law Illustrated Scenarios (new)
    Short, illustrated scenarios with likeable characters sharing concerns and information about family law issues. These engaging picture stories are designed to capture readers’ own situations and lead them to online (and other) resources. On the Family Law in BC website.

Ministry of Attorney General 

  • Parenting After Separation Course (new)
    In this new site for an existing curriculum, this free course helps parents and guardians make positive choices in caring for their children following separation or divorce. It also provides information about the separation process and how to access help, including mediation from a family justice counsellor.
  • Provincial Court Family Rules (PCFR) Explained (new)
    This document offers a rule-by-rule explanation of the Provincial Court Family Rules, for use by both lawyers and non-lawyers. It is intended to provide information on the new processes but is not intended to be legal advice.

Rise Women’s Legal Centre 

  • Section 211 Toolkit (new)
    This toolkit provides an overview of major issues lawyers may encounter when requesting or responding to psychological reports ordered under s. 211 of the Family Law Act. It was developed primarily for lawyers working with women experiencing family violence, in cases involving parenting disputes.
  • Time Limits in BC Family Law Matters (new)
    If you are involved in a family law matter, you have certain rights under the law. However, to preserve your rights, you must pay attention to certain time limits. This table sets out some deadlines and time limits that may apply to you. You should still speak to a lawyer for legal advice.

BC Society of Transition Houses

  • Technology-Facilitated Violence: Preserving Digital Evidence Toolkit (new)
    This guide helps women and anti-violence workers preserve digital evidence in situations involving technology-facilitated violence against women. It includes the laws and best practices, tech specific guides, courts info, legal options for self-represented litigants, and tech safety resources.
  • Teen Digital Dating Violence Toolkit (new)
    This toolkit provides anti-violence workers and caregivers supporting teens through their experiences of digital dating violence with information, tips, handouts and resources. Includes info to help better understand the legal causes of action related to experiences of teen digital dating violence.

The National Self-Represented Litigants Project

  • Considering Mindfulness (new)
    This primer is for people representing themselves in family or civil court. Includes three “must-do” stress busters for SRLs, the science behind mindfulness, getting started with the practice, and more resources about mindfulness.

Justice Education Society (JES)

  • Courts of BC (updated)
    This redesigned website provides educational information and instructional videos about the justice system in British Columbia, which includes the Provincial Court, the Supreme Court, the Court of Appeal, and administrative tribunals. The site describes the structure of each court, the tribunals, and the types of cases that are heard in each one.
  • Law Lessons (updated)
    This redesigned website consolidates a number of legal education resources for teachers and students. It provides a single online destination to access a broad range of content including lesson plans, legal education videos, mock trial scripts, and a legal dictionary.
