  • The Importance of Staying Connected (In-Person)
    by Seniors First BC and Vancouver Coastal Health
    • What: This interactive presentation introduces the importance of staying connected. It discusses the risk factors associated with social isolation and loneliness, the correlation with decreased well-being, and reminders and resources about how we can do our part to stay connected with loved ones in our lives. This is an in-person event held at Westwinds Senior Living, 38275 3 Ave Squamish.

  • Everyday Law Series: How You Can Get Free Legal Information and Services (In-Person and Webinar)
    by AC Friends of Court
    • What: This event is presented by AC Friends of Court in partnership with Vancouver Public Library. AC’s volunteers help you understand legal procedures and complete paperwork. The in-person is held at Vancouver Public Library Kensington 1428 Cedar Cottage Mews. There’s a 20-seat limit. You can attend via Zoom as well. The presentation will be delivered in English, Mandarin and Cantonese.

    • What: This interactive presentation introduces the importance of staying connected.   • Frauds and Scams (In-Person)

    • What: This presentation introduces what frauds and scams are, common methods and schemes targeting Canadian seniors, safety strategies, and resources to consult if you or someone you know has been affected by frauds/scams. This is an in-person event held at Cloverdale Recreation Centre, 6188 – 176 Street Surrey.

  • Worker Rights in BC Part 2 (Webinar)
    by People’s Law School
    • What: What are your most pressing work-related legal questions? This webinar will answer questions about your rights as a worker and how to deal with problems at work. They’ll be focusing on questions from you and other attendees. PLS invites you to join them to deepen your understanding of worker rights and how to navigate problems.

  • Personal Planning through Storytelling: Representation Agreements (Webinar)
    by Nidus and Memorial Society of BC
    • What: Presented by Nidus and hosted by Memorial Society of BC. What is personal planning? How is it different from estate planning? What if I have a Will and an Enduring Power of Attorney – am I covered? What if I can’t make any of these documents? What will happen to me in an emergency if I can’t speak for myself?   • RDSP Level 1 (Webinar)

    • What: Intro to the RDSP webinar is for those who want to learn what an RDSP is, who qualifies, how to apply for the Disability Tax Credit, and how to open an RDSP. This is best suited to people who want to learn the basics of RDSPs and get general information about the plan. No background knowledge is needed.

  • Protecting Seniors from Elder Abuse (In-Person)

    • What: This presentation addresses the correlation between social isolation and abuse of older adults, types of abuse and indicators, risk factors, and strategies to deal with abuse. We discuss the importance of staying connected with others and introduce several resources that can assist older adults and concerned third parties in situations of elder abuse.
