The LSBC Tribunal is an independent adjudicative body that hears cases related to the conduct of lawyers and lawyer applicants. This website has instructions and guides, forms, information about the complaints process, links to cases and more.

Legal Aid BC

Mothers Leaving Abusive Partners: Information on Custody and Access for Women with Children (Updated)
This booklet is for women with children who’ve been abused by their intimate partner. This includes a spouse or someone with whom they share a child but were never in a relationship with. The booklet explains how to get help and protection, and how to handle parenting arrangements.

Parents’ Rights, Kids’ Rights: A Parent’s Guide to Child Protection Law in BC (Updated)
Explains what happens if the Director of Child Protection has concerns about a child’s safety or plans to remove them. Describes collaborative (shared) planning, decision-making options, presentation/protection hearings. Includes information for Indigenous families, where to get help, definitions.

Provincial Court of BC

Picklists for Bail, Probation and Conditional Sentence Orders (Updated)
Picklists are lists of standardized terms for court orders. They are stored in courtroom computers so a Court Clerk can use them to quickly and accurately capture the order a judge makes. When a judge decides to change the standard wording, a Court Clerk can edit the term accordingly.

For everyone who relies on public space, the daily practice of Street Sweeps perpetuates a cycle of displacement that diminishes people’s dignity, safety, and well-being. This report contains research, documentation, and analysis of the negative impacts of Street Sweeps on low-income and street-involved communities in Vancouver and presents a list of demands in response.

Family Justice Centres (Updated hours)
Family Justice Centres operate across BC to provide services to British Columbians going through separation or divorce. Each centre is staffed by accredited Family Justice Counsellors, specially trained to help families with parenting arrangements, contact with a child, guardianship, and support issues. They can help parents resolve disagreements without going to court. They provide short-term counselling, mediation, emergency and community referrals and other free services.

Justice Access Centres (Updated hours)
JACs are the place to come when you need help with family law and civil law issues that affect your everyday life. We can help assess what you need, provide information about your legal and related issues and refer you to the services that are available for your situation: self-help and information services; needs assessment; dispute resolution and mediation options; limited legal advice services; community referrals; and free publications.

Seniors First BC

Legal Advocacy Program (Updated hours)
The Legal Advocate program provides legal services to seniors/people age 55+ who are not able to access legal help due to low income or other barriers for legal issues involving residential tenancy, government benefits and debt.

Legal Programs (Updated hours)
Seniors First BC provides services to older adults who are not able to access legal help elsewhere due to low income or other barriers. They may provide services for the following legal issues: Residential Tenancy/Housing, Debt, Pensions and Appeals, Assisted Living/Residential Care, Discrimination, Abuse/Neglect, Financial Exploitation, Consumer Complaints, Guardianship/Capacity. Seniors First may also assist older adults with drafting wills and personal planning documents.
