New Website for Aboriginal People
Do you self-identify as an Aboriginal person or help people who do?
Legal Services Society (LSS) has launched a new Aboriginal section on their website, dedicated to issues that are important to Aboriginal people. The new section has a unique visual identity, and features legal information and resources, up-to-date community news (such as upcoming workshops), links to people who can help (grouped by areas of BC), and a growing list of LSS Aboriginal publications.
The section covers topics such as the Indian Residential Schools Settlement Agreement, Gladue rights (the special consideration that judges must give an Aboriginal person at bail or sentencing hearings), and the First Nations Court of BC in New Westminster. Other legal issues will be added as the section continues to evolve.
If you have any suggestions or comments about the LSS Aboriginal website section, please contact Pamela Shields, Manager, Aboriginal Services at Legal Services Society.
