- Elder Abuse: What is it? How do we deal with it? (Webinar)
by Seniors First BC- What: Previously known as “Building Community Connections to Help Stop Mistreatment and Neglect of Older Adults”, this 60-minute workshop addresses the correlation between social isolation and abuse of older adults, types of abuse and people involved, and strategies to deal with abuse. We discuss the importance of staying connected to others through brainstorming community resources, and viewing a short video depicting a fictional story of social isolation and elder abuse.

- Litigation as Storyteller: R v Desautel and the Recognition of the SINIXT (Webinar)
by West Coast LEAF and CBABC- What: Join West Coast LEAF and the Canadian Bar Association BC Branch for a webinar discussion about R v Desautel and the role of litigation in revitalizing Sinixt identity and community. For 65 years, since 1956, the federal and provincial governments have claimed that the S??aýckstx (Sinixt), an Indigenous First Nation from BC’s West Kootenay region, are “extinct.” The Sinixt have been fighting for decades for legal recognition of their rights and identity, and in 2010, Rick Desautel began his journey through the Canadian court system after engaging in a ceremonial elk hunt.
