New on Clicklaw! Small Town Justice: A report on the RCMP in Northern and Rural British Columbia

Recently added to Clicklaw is Small Town Justice, a report published by the BC Civil Liberties Association.  David Eby, executive director of BCCLA, is the principal researcher and author.

This report is the product of 16 workshops held in 14 centres in rural and northern British Columbia by the BC Civil Liberties Association on the topic of Canada’s Royal Canadian Mounted Police and their future in polic­ing the province. More than 300 people participated in the workshops.

Join FIPA in celebrating Right to Know Week!

During this week of September 26 – 30 the BC Freedom of Information and Privacy Association (FIPA) is hosting two exciting Right to Know Week events in Vancouver: a 20-year FIPA anniversary party and fundraiser on the 28th and an FOI Workshop on the 29th. For details, click here.

This is the sixth year that Canadians have celebrated Right to Know (RTK) Week. It was created to increase awareness about their right of access to government information, and it highlights the essential role freedom of information plays in democracy and good governance.
